An overdenture is a denture that is secured to the mouth by dental implants. The denture snaps to implants into your jaw, or it may clip into a bar that it attached to the implants. This procedure is generally done in two phases: the first phase involves the surgical placement of the implants. The second phase is fitting the denture over the implants.
There are many benefits to an overdenture. The implants retain your bone and lessen the chances of bone loss. This limits multiple dental visits over-time because you will not need to get your denture refit to make up for the bone loss.
Another benefit is that since the denture is stable in your mouth, it is easier to eat, talk, chew, and go about your daily life as normal.
The denture can be removed to be cleaned and snaps back into place.
